Venice on film

When I was 15, I asked my dad to teach me how to use his camera – a Canon AE-1 Program that he’d had as long as I could remember.  The days we spent chatting about film, apertures and shutter speeds are some of my very favourites.  And I think they’re some of his, too.  Even after I graduated from a three year degree in photography, my dad would still proudly tell anyone who’d listen that he taught me everything I know…

And you know what dad, when I pick up that Canon AE-1 Program, and hear that familiar click of the shutter, I’m transported back to those teenage days in the darkroom, and I think…  My dad taught me everything I know.

I love this camera, and I feel so blessed to have it with me on my travels.  It’s the most beautiful connection to home.  x
