Annabel & Mitch ~ Provence, France wedding

2016…  It’s been a strange year.  One filled with loss, violence, political turmoil…  So much nastiness, so much tragedy.  Almost enough to make me want to disconnect, hide away, give in to the negativity that’s on every front page, at the top of our news feeds every morning, noon and night.  Almost enough to make me feel guilty for what I’m about to write…

Because for me, 2016 has been a year of incredible experiences.  A year of triumph, discovery and growth.  For all the awful things 2016 has thrown our way, I’ve seen enough kindness, enough beauty and shared enough joy to make up for it one hundred times over.

There are people in this world who will invite you into their homes and make you a cup of tea when you’ve had a disappointing day.  People who will buy you a beer and share their meal when you’re lost and exhausted and the rain is too heavy to drive any further.  People who will come to your rescue when you’re stranded with a flat tyre on the side of the road in the French countryside.  People who will dance with you into the early hours of the morning, until your legs are aching and your voices are all but gone.  People who will take you on adventures, share their stories, their favourite books, their favourite songs, their favourite cities.  People who will cook you meals, pour you wine, invite you back time and again.  Beautiful people, living life to share it with others, and finding so much joy in that.

This year I’ve seen, yet again, that there is so much love in the world.  And the fact that it’s my job to capture that love…  Well that just blows my mind.

So to 2016, I say thank you.  And I’m welcoming 2017 with open arms, ready for even more adventures.

And on that note, the wedding of Annabel & Mitch…  One of my absolute highlights of 2016.  Happy New Year, all.  x
